Inspiration: Great soft yarn in
wonderful colors for that special sweater. Use two colors or one - whatever
strikes your fancy! Lots of colors of
Cuddles are available to create your own color design.
Note: This 18" doll set will fit dolls such as Madame Alexander, American Girl, etc.
Materials
2 - 50 gr balls
Crystal Palace Cuddles 1
each: #6112 "navy blue” (CC1) & #7009 "teal seas” (CC2)
Crystal Palace 16" Circular Bamboo Needles: Size 9
4 stitch markers; 1 stitch holder; tapestry needle; straight pins
The sweater is knitted from the neck down, requiring sewing only at the sleeve & side seams.
Gauge: 4.0 sts/in St st (although gauge is not crucial)
Abbreviations:
beg-beginning; BO- bind off; CO-cast on; cont-continue;
inc-increase; Kfb- knit in front and back of stitch to increase; PM- place
marker; rep-repeat; rs-right side; sl- slip; St st- stockinette stitch;
st(s)-stitch(es); ws-wrong side; yo- yarn over
Sweater
Using size 9 needles, cast on 48 sts; do not join. K 1 row; P 1
row; K 2 rows (ending by working a ws row).
K2P2 across front.
On back, P9, PM, P15, PM, P9, PM, P15
A: On front: Kfb (Inc 1 st), K across to marker & Kfb before & after the marker
(2 inc made); repeat across; Kfb in last st (total of 8 sts inc in row)
B: On back: K2P2.
Repeat rows A & B 5 more times for a final st count of 96- divided as 21, 27,
21, 27 sts, ending on back.
K1 row; On back, cut CC1 & join CC2. K across.
Front: K across; Back, K2P2 across
Divide and work in sections.
Section 1 (Back):
1. On front, K across 27, turn. Set aside the rem sts and work only these 27
sts.
2. On back, K1P1 across.
3. K across front.
4. P1K1 across back.
Repeat rows 1-4 three (3) times. Now work hem: K3 rows & bind off in Purl. Cut
yarn and rejoin to main sts.
Section 2 (first sleeve):
1. On front, K across 21, turn. Set aside the rem sts and work only these 21
sts.
2. On back, K1P1 across.
3. K across front.
4. P1K1 across back.
Repeat rows 1-4 three (3) times. Now work hem: K3 rows & bind off in Purl. Cut
yarn and rejoin to main sts.
Section 3 (front):
1. On front, K across 27, turn. Set aside the rem sts and work only these 27
sts.
2. On back, K1P1 across.
3. K across front.
4. P1K1 across back.
Repeat rows 1-4 three (3) times. Now work hem: K3 rows & bind off in Purl. Cut
yarn and rejoin to main sts.
Section 4 (2nd sleeve)
1. On front, K across 21, turn. Set aside the rem sts and work only these 21
sts.
2. On back, K1P1 across.
3. K across front.
4. P1K1 across back.
Repeat rows 1-4 three (3) times. Now work hem: K3 rows & bind off in Purl. Cut yarn.
Finishing: assemble sweater. Carefully pin & sew the seams, joining sleeves and side seams.
