Crystal Palace Bamboo
Needles or Daisy Needles:
Sizes US 10-1/2 (6.5mm) straight or 26/29" circular OR Size to obtain gauge
and 10-1/2 (6.5mm) 16" circular.
+ 2 stitch holders
Gauge: 10sts = 4 inches, slightly stretched and 16.5 rows = 4 inches,
using size 10-1/2 (6.5mm) in rib stitch, 1 strand Kiddo and 1 strand
Blippity held together.
Note: Be sure to make a gauge swatch
before beginning project.
Abbreviations:
Beg-beginning; BO-bind off; CO-cast on; Dec-decrease; inc-increase; K- knit;
K2tog- knit 2 stitches together; psso- pass slip stitch over; PU-pick up;
Rem- remaining; Rep-repeat; RS-right side; SSK- slip slip knit; St(s)-stitch
(es); WS- wrong side; YO-yarn over.
Back:
Using size 10-1/2 needles, and Yarn A and Blippity C034 (38) (42) sts.
Stripe pattern will be alternated with 4 rows color A, 4 rows color B and
Blippity, in Rib Pattern as follows:
Row 1 (RS): K2, *p2, k2; rep from * to end to end of row.
Row 2: P2 *k2, p2; rep from * to end of row.
Mark right side of piece.
Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 9.5 (11) (12)" Or desired length to
underarm; from CO edge.
Armhole Shaping:
BO2 (4) (4) sts at beg next 2 rows. 30 (30) (34) sts remain. Working in
pattern as established, work even until armhole measures 5.5 (6) (6.5)"
above BO.
Shape Neck and shoulder shaping:
Neck and shoulder shaping occur at the same time. Working both sides
at the same time, work 9 (8) (10) slip 12 (14) (14) sts to holder; join
another ball and work remaining 9 (8) (10) sts. Dec 1 st at neck edge every
row 1 (1) (1) times. Work Decreased stitch in pattern as established. Work
even if necessary, until armhole measures 6 (6.5) (7)". BO all 8 (8) (9) sts
in rib stitch.
Front:
Work same as for the back until armhole measures 5 (5.6) (6)". 30 (30) (34)
sts remain.
Shape Neck and shoulder shaping:
Working both sides at the same time; work 13 (13) (14) sts; slip next 4 (4)
(6) sts to holder; join another ball of yarn and work remaining 13 (13) (14)
sts. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 2 times; then dec 1 st at neck edge
every other row 3 times. 8 (8) (9) sts remain.
Work even until armhole measures 6 (6.5) (7)". BO all 8 (8) (9) sts in rib
stitch.
Sleeves: (Make 2)
Using size 10-½ needles and Color A and Blippity, CO18 (22) (22) sts. Stripe
pattern will be alternated with 4 rows color A, then 4 rows Color B, in rib
as follows:
Row 1: K2 *p2, k2; rep from * to end.
Row 2: P2, *k2, p, 2; rep from * to end.
Work 8 rows in stripe pattern for the cuff. Mark for cuff fold up. Work 6
rows above the cuff marker end after working WS row. Increase 1 sts at each
end, then rep increase every 6 rows 4 (3) (3) times and every 8 rows 1 (2)
(3) times, work all increased sts into patt as estab; 30 (32) (34) sts.
Work even until sleeve measures 10.5 (11.5) (12.5)" above cuff marker.
Bind Off all 30 (32) (34) sts in rib stitch.
Finishing:
Using Kiddo single strand, for sewing seams. Sew shoulder seams. Work Neck
trim. Sew sleeves into armholes; sew sleeve seams to marker for cuff, then
sew cuff with seam on right side, so when it is folded up the seam will not
be seen. Sew underarm seams leaving last 2 (2) (2-1/2)" from bottom edge
open. Work in all ends.
Neck Trim:
Using size 10-12, 16" circular needles, Color A (A) (B); RS facing,
beginning at left shoulder, PU10 (10) (12) sts down left front neck edge, PU
4 (6) (6) sts from front holder, 10 (10) (12) from right front neck edge, 2
(2) (2) right back neck edge; 12 (14) (14) sts from holder; 2sts from left
back neck edge. 40 (44) (48) sts total. Join into round and work k2, p2 rib
for 4 rounds; change to color (B) B) (A) and work remaining stripes back and
forth for 20 (20) (24) rows". BO in rib stitch, very loosely or use
needle 2 sizes larger for BO.
