Materials:
Crystal Palace Bunny Hop: 3 (4)
(5) (6) - 50 gram balls, (MC) and 1- 50 gram ball (CC)
Needles:
Crystal Palace Bamboo or
CPY DAISY Needles US Size 7 and 2
size 6 double pointed needles for making I-cord.
Stitch holder
Gauge: 20 sts and 28 rows = 4" on Size 7 needles in Stockinette Stitch; be sure to do a gauge swatch.
Abbreviations: BO-bind off; CC-contrast color; CO-cast on; Dec-decrease; Inc-increase; k-knit; MC-main color; meas-measures; patt-pattern; p-purl; rep-repeat; RS-right side; SSK-slip, slip, knit 2 slip stitches together; WS-wrong side.
Back
Using Size 7 needles and MC, CO 52 (56) (62) (66)
sts. Work in Seed st as follows:
Row 1: * K1. P1, rep from *
to end.
Row 2: *P1, k1; rep from * to end.
Rep these 2 rows for a total of 6 rows. Working in Stockinette, begin stripe sequence as follows: 2 rows CC; 2 rows MC; 2 rows CC; 2 rows MC; 2 rows CC. Using MC, continue working in Stockinette, until piece meas 6 (6.5) (7) (8)” from CO edge. Place marker at each end for armhole. Work 4.5 (5.5) (5.5) (6)” above marker; end after working WS row. BO all stitches. Mark 15 (16) (17) (19) stitches on each side for left and right shoulder.
Front
Work same as for the back, to armhole, place marker at
each end for armhole.
Shape Neck
Divide for neck. Working both sides at the same time work 24
(26) (29) (32) sts. Using 2nd ball of yarn BO 4 sts, work rem sts. Each side
will have 24 (26) (29) (32) sts. Work 1 row even.
Dec 1 st at neck edge every RS Row, 3 (3) (5) (5) times; rep Dec row every 4th row, 6 (7) (7) (8) times. 15 (16) (17) (19) sts rem. Work even, if necessary, until armhole meas 4.5 (5.5) (5.5) (6)”above armhole markers. BO all st loosely.
Sleeves
Using size 7 needles and MC, CO 28 (34) (36) (38) Work in Seed St for 6
rows. Working in Stockinette St begin stripe sequence as follows: 2 rows CC;
2 rows MC; 2 row CC; 2 rows MC; 2 rows CC. AT THE SAME TIME increase 1 st at
each end every 3rd row, 1 time; every 4th row, 7 (9) (6) (3) times and every
6th row (0) (0) (3) (8) times. 44 (54) (56) (62) sts. Work even until sleeve
meas 6 (8) (8.5) (10.5)” from CO edge. BO loosely.
Collar
Note: Collar is worked from
the Back-bottom edge to front.
Using size 7 needles and MC, CO 44 (48) (54) (58) sts. Work 6 rows seed
stitch. Work in Stripe pattern as follows:
Row 1 (RS): MC; k1, p1, k1, p1; CC; k 36 (40) (46) (50),
MC; p1, k1, p1, k1.
Row 2 (WS): MC; k1, p1, k1, p1; CC; p (36) (40) (46) (50), MC; p1, k1, p1,
k1.
Row 3: MC; k1, p1, k1, p1, knit to last 4 sts, p1, k1, p1, k1.
Row 4: MC; k1, p1, k1, p1; purl to last 4 sts, p1, k1, p1, k1.
Repeat these 4 rows for a total of 3 CC stripes, then rep rows 3 and 4 until
piece meas 3.5 (3.5) (4) (4)” from CO edge, end after working WS row.
Collar neck shaping
K1, p, k1, p1, k 7 (8) (9) (11), place on stitch holder;
BO 22 (24) (28) (28); knit to last 4 sts; p1, k1, p1, k1. 11 (12) (13) (15)
sts rem on each side.
Left Collar
K1, p1, k1, p1; purl to end of row.
Dec row: K1, SSK, knit to last 4 sts; p1, k1, p1, k1.
Keeping the 4 border sts in seed st and rem sts in Stockinette, continue to Dec 1 st at neck edge every 4th row 8 (9) (8) (11) times and every RS row 0 (0) (2) (1) until 2 sts rem. Note: Work last few dec sts into Stockinette St. Work even if necessary until collar fits along neckline to division of neckline on front. BO 2 sts. Both sides of the collar will meet at the center of the BO at neckline.
Right Collar
WS facing place sts from stitch holder onto needles; join
yarn, p7; p1, k1, p1, k1.
Dec Row, k1, p1, k1, p1, knit to last 3 sts; k2 tog, k1. Keeping the 4 border sts in seed sts and rem sts in Stockinette, continue to Dec 1 st at neck edge every 4th row 8 (9) (8) (11) times and every RS row 0 (0) (2) (1) times until 2 seed sts remain. until 2 sts rem. Note: Work last few dec sts into Stockinette St. Work length same as for left collar. BO 2 sts.
I-Cord
Using CC and size 6 double pointed needles. CO 3 sts.
Knit the 3 sts, with out turning, push the sts to the right end of the
needle, pull yarn firmly across the back and knit the 3 sts. Rep until cord
is long enough to fit around entire neckline. BO.
Finishing
Block pieces by pinning out and spraying with water.
Allow to dry. Sew shoulder seams. Sew Collar to neck edge by placing collar,
right side facing up, on top of right side of front, sew edges together.
Make I-cord; sew I-cord on top of the collar, it will be too bulky if sewn
through both the collar and body seam, sew or graft ends together. Sew
sleeves, matching sleeve center of sleeve to shoulder seam. Sew side seams.
Work in ends.
