1- 100gr ball.
Color #1015 'ivory' shown
Crystal Palace Bamboo
16" Circular & Double Point Needles size 11 or size to obtain correct gauge
Crystal Palace Bamboo Crochet Hook size K
Stitch Marker
Note:
The cable band is knitted first, using two of the double point
needles
Provisional Cast-On: Using K crochet hook and contrasting color bulky yarn,
ch 16. Fasten off. Cast on by picking up and knitting one st in bump on back of
each chain.
The last st on every row is slipped with yarn in front (wyif).
Using provisional cast-on, cast on 12 sts.
1 (wrong side): K4, P4, K3, sl last st wyif.
2: K, sl last st wyif
3: Repeat 1
4: K4, cable on next 4 sts, K3, sl 1.
5: Repeat 1
6: Repeat 2
Repeat the last 6 rows until 48 garter ridges are formed on the right side.
End by working row 2.
Remove chain from provisional cast on. Place these sts on double point needle.
Fold band in half, right sides together, and work 3-needle bind off to join.
Pick up and knit 1 stitch in the back loop of each slipped st along one edge of
hat (49 sts). Place marker.
Knit in the round until piece measures 6.5 inches from bottom
edge of hat. Begin decreasing:
1: *K5, K2 tog* all around
2: *K4, K2 tog* all around
3: *K3, K2 tog* all around
4: *K2, K2 tog* all around
5: *K1, K2 tog* all around
6: K2 tog all around.
Cut yarn leaving a 10” tail. Draw thru open loops and pull up
firmly.
Fasten off.
