This scarf is knit to wear in a cold climate - you could make a similar narrower scarf with 2 balls instead of 4.

Using Crystal Palace Bamboo 9" size 13 needles. 4 balls of Iceland makes this Very Long Scarf, 2 balls will make a scarf of about 5 ft in length.

Cast on 22 and work outer 2 sts in garter st (always knit) for the entire scarf. Work the first 4 rows in garter stitch (you can see this in the lower photo just above.)

Begin with color A and knit in st st for 6-8 rows, knit one row of Rev St st (purl instead of knit for one row), then return to St st. Knit 4-5 more rows in St st in Color A and then change to Color B. Work in St st for a few rows, toss in a Rev St st row now and then (looking at the photo you can see the little lines of Rev St st across the scarf randomly). Keep changing back and forth from Col A to Col B every 8-10" until you are almost out of yarn. Knit the last 4 rows of the Scarf in Garter St.
