Sarong Instructions (This piece
is worked beginning at the bottom.)Using Waikiki and size 10 needles, CO 95
(108, 121, 134, 147) sts. Begin Scallop Lace pattern as follows:
Scallop Lace Pattern: (multiple of 13 + 4)
Row 1(RS): K3, *yo, k4, sl-1, k2tog, psso, k4, yo, k2; rep from * to last
st, k1
Row 2: K1, purl to last st, k1.
Repeat these 2 rows until piece measures 31 (33, 34, 35, 35)” or desired length.
If changing the length keep in mind that when blocked the length will be reduced
by approximately 3”. Bind off all stitches. Mark the bind off as the top of
sarong.
Block the lace by pinning out so lace is open and flat,
stretch to width of the finished measurement of the chosen size; this will take
up some of the length; next pin out the length, making sure the scallops are
pinned out at the bottom to define the scallop. Spray with water and let dry.
Band
Right side facing, using size 7 needles and Party, CO
4 sts, then pick up 92 (104, 116, 128, 142) sts across the top of sarong. CO 4
sts at beginning of next row knit across. 100 (112, 124, 136, 150) sts]. Knit 2
more rows. BO all sts.
Note: The 4 CO sts at each
end will be folded and sewn to form a loop for the ties.
Side Ruffle Trim
Right side facing, using size 10 needles and Waikiki,
RS facing, beginning at lower right front edge, pick up 96 (102, 104, 106,106)
sts. You will not be picking up the waistband stitches, which have been worked
in Party.
Row 1 & 3: Purl
Row 2: K1 *kfb, rep from *, end k1. [190 (202, 206, 210, 210) sts].
Row 4: Rep row 2. [378 (402, 410, 418, 418) sts].
Bind off all sts. Repeat for other side, RS facing beginning
at top left front edge. You will not be picking up the waistband stitches that
have been worked in Party.
Ties (Make 2)
Using Party and size G crochet hook, leave 6” tail,
chain until chain reaches 56 (58, 59, 60, 60)” or longer if desired; fasten off
leaving 6” tail. Repeat for 2nd tie. Using the 6” tail at end of tie, thread
through big eye needle, go through 1 bead, knot the end and trim. Repeat for all
ends of ties. Note: A drop of fabric glue at the end of each knot will
keep it secure.
Finishing
With RS facing, at each end of top band, fold the 4 CO
sts in half to the wrong side, making a “loop” for the ties to go through; using
tapestry needle and Party, sew to WS. Slide one end of the tie a little less
than halfway through the loop; make an overhand knot to secure the tie. Repeat
for other tie. Work in all ends.
