Meringue + Sequoia Stole
Materials
2 - 50 gr balls Meringue (Merino wool blend with elastic fibers) #028 "raspberry" (click to see all colors)
2 - 50 gr balls Sequoia (wool-alpaca-acrylic blend) #004
1 pr size 15 Circular 36" or 40" Crystal Palace Bamboo or DAISY NeedlesStole is knit lengthwise on circulars by going back and forth.
Gauge: 9.5 sts/4 inches in garter st with Meringue
(gauge is not very important), Stole will have a very soft feel and is knit all in garter st. (K all rows)Finished size: 55" long, 13" wide, Sequoia fringe is 7" long
Note re. Fringe: Before beginning, wind off Sequoia for fringe around a book or cardboard that is approx. 7" across, wind 32 times and cut at one end. This will give you 32 strands each approx. 14-15" long. Put aside until stole is knit.
Bows Tied with Sequoia: If you like the look of the 8 scattered bows of Sequoia on the shawl as shown in the photo, also wind off and extra 8 lengths of Sequoia.
Instructions:
Using Meringue, cast on 140 sts on circular needle, do not join into circle.
*Knit 3 rows using Meringue
Knit 1 row using Sequoia*
Repeat these 4 rows. Do not cut yarn when changing yarns. Shift the knitting back and forth to opposite ends of the circular needle to reach needed yarn.Continue until you have only a small amount of Meringue left, bind off LOOSELY with Meringue. (To be certain you are binding off loosely, change to a size 17 needle for bind off.)
Tie on Fringe and (if desired) bows of Sequoia.
