Materials:

Crystal Palace
Bamboo Needles or DAISY Needles
US size 13 or size to get the gauge.
Gauge:
11 sts = 4" or 10 cm (2.75 sts/inch)
[Be sure to check gauge, some knitters will get this gauge on size 11 needles.
With chunky yarns such as Sequoia a slight discrepancy in gauge can result in a
totally different size sweater.]

Seed Stitch
Row 1: K1, P1 across row (Sm size will end K1)
Row 2: P the Ks, K the Ps. (Sm size will end on P1)
Three-Two Ribbing
RS Rows: K3, P2 (end K3 for all sizes but XXLg)
WS Rows: P3, K2 (end P3 for all sizes but XXLg)
Back
CO 50 (56, 61, 66, 72) sts, P 1 row (WS)
Row 1 (RS): Work 11 (14, 14, 14, 16) sts in Seed St; 28 (28, 33, 38, 40)
in 3x2 Rib; then Seed St for rem 11 (14, 14, 14, 16) sts
Row 2 (WS): Work reverse of rw 1 (Seed St sides, 3x2 Rib center)
Rows 3-10: Repeat Rows 1 & 2
Row 11: Work 11 (14, 14, 14, 16) sts in Seed St, work center 28 (28, 33,
38, 40) sts in St st, then Seed St rem 11 (14, 14, 14, 16) sts.
Row 12: Cont working sides in Seed St and center in St st (P on WS).
Work until piece meas 14.5 (16, 16.5, 17, 17.5)" from CO edge.
Underarm Shaping BO 2 sts at beg next 2 rows 1 (1, 1, 2, 2) times. BO 2
sts at beg of next row 2x. [total dec = 6 (6, 6, 8, 8) sts each side] 38 (44,
49, 50, 56) sts remain.
Work until piece meas 20.5 (23, 24.5, 25.5, 26.5)´from CO edge.
Neck Shaping On next RS row, BO center 14 (18, 21, 20, 20) sts, attach
another ball of yarn and work across row. Next WS Row: Dec 1 st at each inside
neck edge on each side. Work meas 21(23.5, 25, 26, 27)" from CO edge. BO 11 (12,
13, 14, 17) sts across each shoulder.
Front
Work as for back, including all
shaping. At the same time when piece meas 18.5 (20.5, 21.5, 22.5, 23.5)" work to
center 8 (10, 10, 10, 10, 10) sts and place these sts on holder, attach a second
ball of yarn and compete row.
Neck Shaping
Work both sides at once. Dec 1 st at each inner neck edge, every other row 4 (5,
6, 6, 6) times.
Cont in pat st until work meas 21(23.5, 25, 26, 27)" and matches length of back.
BO 11 (12, 13, 15, 18) sts across each shoulder. Join front and back top
shoulder seams. Seam sides below armholes.
Armhole Edging
Work a row of Rev Single Crochet or a single row of knitting (PU approx 44-49
sts from RS) around the armhole. Either PU and K with Single Point ndl before
seaming below armhole, or use 16" circular ndl after seaming.
Mock Turtle Neck Finishing
With 16" circulars or DP ndls and RS facing, PU 28 (30, 32, 32, 35)
sts from front of neck (including those on holder) and 22 (20, 23, 23, 25) sts
from back of neck [total 50 (50, 55, 55, 60) sts. ] Sts should be multiple of 5
for working mock turtle neck in 3x2 Rib st. Work for 12 rows or approx 3.5" and
BO loosely in 3x2 rib st.
Sequoia looks and feels best with a light
blocking. Mist with water or dampen, roll in a towel to remove excess water and
lay flat to dry.
