Whisper + Choo-Choo Scarf
with ruffled endsEasy to Knit with one ball each of Whisper and Choo-Choo
Design Note: The little black edge lines in Choo-Choo shows up nicely in this yarn combination. See the photo at the bottom of this page to see the effect.
Materials:
1-50 gr. ball of Whisper (here #9307- orange crush)
and 1-50 gr. ball of Choo-Choo (here #2745 - tropical sun)Size 15 - 26" CPY Bamboo circular needles
The entire scarf is knit lengthwise in garter st (all rows knit).
Sts are picked up on both ends to form the ruffled finish.
Finished scarf (not counting ends) is a little over 5 feet long and 3.5 inches wide.Note: If you prefer a scarf with plain ends similar to this one with Whisper + Shimmer, cast on 120 sts instead of 100 and knit until you run out of yarn.
To knit scarf:
Loosely cast on 100 sts with both Whisper and Choo-Choo yarns held together. Work all rows Knit (garter st) until your scarf is about 3.5" wide (approx 12-13 rows). You should have a small ball of each yarn left at this point. Bind off loosely.To make ruffled ends:
Using the same size 15 needles, pick up 8 sts evenly across the end of the scarf.
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: Inc by knitting in the front and back of every st [16 sts].
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: Inc again in each st [32 sts]
Knit 3 more rows.
Cast off loosely.
