Description: This elegant shrug is easy to make with its simple, rectangular construction. The open drop-stitch pattern gives it incredible drape.
Level: Easy
Size: S/M (L/XL)
Garment Measurements: 20 x 45 (22 x 47)"
(Note: The shrug is knit slightly smaller than the finished length and width, to be stretched to measurements when blocking.)
Materials:
Gauge: 3.5 sts=1" over drop-stitch-and-garter pattern
Abbreviations: BO- bind off, CO- cast on; k- knit; p-purl; rep- repeat; RS- right side (outside of garment); st(s)- stitch(es); yo-yarn over
Instructions:
CO 65 (71) sts. Knit 8 rows in garter st.
Row 1 (yo row): K3, *(yo) 2x, k1; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 2: K across row, dropping the yo's off the needle as you reach them. (Do NOT knit the yo's.)
Row 3-9: Knit.
Repeat Rows 1-9 until piece measures 43 (45)". Knit 1 more row in garter st. BO loosely.
Finishing:
Block to measurements. With RS' facing and beginning at cast-on edge, fold rectangle in half lengthwise. Sew seam up 11" to form sleeve. Repeat for other side. Weave in ends. Turn RS out.
