Size 5 and 8, 26" CPY Bamboo circular knitting
needles
Size 7 - 35" CPY Bamboo circular needle for yoke
8 Stitch markers
3 Buttons (+ 3 buttons for doll sweater)
Gauge: 20 sts = 4" in stockinette st
Abbreviations: Beg - beginning; pm - place marker; Rs - right side; Ws - wrong side; Sk2p - sl 1, K2 tog, psso; St st - stockinette stitch;
Instructions
Work the pieces in the following order, ending by purling
them onto the circular needle to continue working yoke in one piece.
Left Front - Using size 5 needle, cast on 33 (35,
37, 39, 41) sts. Beg with a P st, work in K1-P1 ribbing for 1.5 (1.5, 2, 2, 2)"
. Change to size 8 needle and work in st st to 7 (9, 10, 11, 12)" or desired
length to underarm. End by working a ws row. Bind off 2 (2, 2, 2, 3) sts at beg
of next rs row and K to end of row. Turn, bind off 2 sts, P onto size 7 circular
needle
[31 (33, 35, 37, 38) sts.] Cut yarn.
Left Sleeve - Using size 5 needle, cast on 29
(31, 32, 33, 33) sts. Beg with a P st, work in K1-P1 ribbing for 1.5 (1.5, 2, 2,
2)". Change to size 8 needles and continue in st st, increasing one st at each
end of needle every 4th rs row until there are 49 (53, 59, 64, 69) sts. Work
even in st st until sleeve measures 9 (11, 12, 13, 14.5)")" or desired length to
underarm. End by working a ws row. Bind off 2 (2, 2, 2, 3) sts at beg of next 2
rows: [45 (49, 55, 60, 63) sts].
P onto size 7 circular needle and cut yarn.
Back - Using size 5 needle, cast on 67 (71, 77, 81, 89) sts. Work in
K1-P1 ribbing for
1.5 (1.5, 2, 2, 2)". Change to size 8 needle and work in st st until piece
measures
7 (9, 10, 11, 12)" or desired length to underarm. End by working a ws row.
Bind off 2 (2, 2, 2, 3) sts at beg of next 2 rows: [63 (67, 73, 77, 83) sts]. P
onto size 7 needle.
Right sleeve - work same as for left sleeve, ending by purling onto size 7 circular needle.
Right Front - work same as left front to underarm. End by working a right-side row. Next row: Bind off 2 (2, 2, 2, 3) sts. P onto size 7 circular needle.
Joining round: K to 1 st before end of right front, pm, knit next st tog with first st of sleeve, pm, knit to 1 st before end of sleeve, pm, k next st tog with first st of back, pm. Continue in this manner to end of row. [211 (227, 249, 267, 281) sts.]
1: (ws) Knit
2: *K to within 2 sts of marker, ssk, sl marker, K1, sl marker, K2 tog*. Repeat
between * three times more, K to end.
3: Purl
4-5: Repeat rows 2 and 3. 195 (211, 233, 251, 265) sts: [191 (211, 231, 251,
261) sts.]
6: Knit, decreasing 4 (0, 2, 0, 4) sts evenly spaced.
7: (ws) Knit
Set up rows:
RS: P4, *K3, P7* across row, ending last repeat P4 instead of P7.
WS: K4, *P3, K7* across row, ending last repeat K4 instead of K7.
Begin yoke pattern:
The following instructions are numbered by sections. Work the 4 rows of ea
section for your size as follows (it will be helpful to circle the sections for
your size before knitting yoke):
Size 2 - sections 1, 2, 4, 7, 9, 10
Size 4 - sections 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10
Size 6 - sections 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10
Size 8 - sections 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
Size 10 - all sections, 1-10
1: P4, *K3, pass first of these 3 over other 2, P7,* end
last repeat P4.
K4, *P1, yo, P1, K7* ending last repeat K4 instead of K7.

Knit, decreasing 3 (7, 4, 7, 6) sts evenly spaced [67 (69, 79, 81, 89) sts]
Change to smaller needle and work 6 rows in K1, P1 ribbing. Bind off in pattern.
Buttonhole Band: Using smaller needle and with right side facing, pick up and knit 1 st in ea row across bottom ribbing, *pick up and knit 1 st In end of next 3 rows, skip 1 row* to neck ribbing, pick up 1 st in end of ea row. Work 3 rows K1-P1 ribbing.
Buttonholes: Rib to garter ridge at beg of yoke
ending with a K st, yo, K2 tog, Make 2 more buttonholes evenly spaced. Work 3
more rows K1-P1 ribbing, Bind off.
Pick up for button band in same manner and work 7 rows in K1-P1 ribbing.
Sew on buttons.
