Merino Stripes Cowl Neck Pullover

Sizes: Sm (Med, Lg, XL, 1X)
Finished Measurements: 38 3/4 (42 1/4, 44 1/2, 48, 50 1/4)"
Materials:
Crystal Palace Yarns Merino Stripes “Mardigras” 6 (7, 7, 8, 9) 50 gr. balls.
Crystal Palace Bamboo or Daisy needles:
US size 8 (5 mm), and US size 9 (5.5 mm) 26” circular needles;
US size 9 (5.5 mm) and 10 (6 mm) straight needles

Gauge: 14 sts and 19 rows = 4 inches, Stockinette st, using size 10 needles. For correct sizing be sure to work a gauge swatch.
Stitches Used:
1. 3 x 2 Rib; Right side: K3, P2; Wrong side: P3, K2
2. 2 x 4 rib; K2, P4 in the round
3. Stockinette St; (St st) knit on RS, purl on WS

Back: Using size 9 straight needles, cast on 63 (68, 73, 78, 83) sts. Work in 3 x 2 rib as follows:
Row 1:
K3 *P2, K3; rep from *.
Row 2: P3, *K2, P3; rep from *.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 for 3 ” end after working row 2.
Change to size 10 straight needles and St st. Decrease 1 (0, 1, 0, 1) st on next row. —62 (68, 72, 78, 82) sts. Work 16 (16, 18, 18, 20) rows even; increase 1 st at each end of next row and every 10 (10, 10, 10, 12) rows 2 times. —68 (74, 78, 84, 88) sts. Work even until piece measures 13 (13 1/2, 14, 14 1/2, 14 1/2)” from the beginning.

Shape Armholes: Bind off 3 (4, 4, 4, 4) sts at beginning of next two rows. Bind off 2 sts st at beginning of next 2 rows. Decrease 1 st at each end every other row; 1 (1, 2, 3, 3,) times and every 4 rows; 1 time. —54 (58, 60, 64, 68) sts. Work even until armhole measures 7 1/2 (8, 8 1/2, 9, 9 1/2)”.
Shape Neck and Shoulders:
Next Row, bind off 4 (4, 4, 5, 6) sts at beginning of next 4 rows, mark center 14 (14, 16, 16, 16) sts. Work to marked center sts, join second ball of yarn, bind off marked center sts for neck, work to end.
Working each side separately, bind off 4 (5, 5, 5, 5) sts at shoulder edge 1 time; and 5 sts at shoulder edge 1 time; AT THE SAME TIME, bind off 3 (4, 4, 4, 4) sts at neck edge every other row 1 time.

Front: Work same as for the back, until armhole measures 2”, end after working WS row. —54 (58, 60, 64, 68) sts.
Shape Neck: K25 (27, 28, 30, 32) sts; join second ball of yarn, bind off center 4 sts, knit to the end. Working each side separately, bind off 2 sts at each neck edge every other row 1 time; decrease 1 st at each neck edge every other row 3 (4, 4, 4, 4) times; every 4 rows 2 (2, 3, 3, 3) times and every 8 rows 1 time. —17 (18, 18, 20, 22) sts.
Work even until armhole measures same as for back.

Shape Shoulders: Bind off 4 (4, 4, 5, 6) sts at each shoulder edge 2 times; bind off 4 (5, 5, 5, 5) sts at each shoulder edge 1 time and 5 sts at beginning of each shoulder edge 1 time.

Sleeves: Using size 9 straight needles, cast on 33 (38, 38, 43, 43) sts. Work in 3 x 2 rib as follows: Row 1: K3 *P2, K3; rep from *.
Row 2: . *K2, P3; rep from *.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 for 2 3/4 (3, 3, 3, 3)"; end after working row 2. Change to size 10 straight needles and St st. Decrease 1 (0, 0, 1, 1) st on next row. 32 (38, 38, 42, 42) sts. Work 7 rows even, increase 1 st at each end of next row, then every 8 rows 4 (7, 3, 4, 0) times; every 6 rows 4 (0, 6, 5, 10) times; and every 4 rows 0 (0, 0, 0, 1) times. —50 (54, 58, 62, 66) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 17 (17 1/2, 18, 18 1/2, 19) ” from the beginning.

Shape Sleeve Cap: Bind off 3 (4, 4, 4, 4) sts at beginning of next two rows. Bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row 2 times. Decrease 1 st at each end every other row 7 (7, 7, 6, 7) times Bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row 6 (7, 8, 10, 11) times. —14 (14, 16, 18, 18) sts. Bind off all st loosely. Mark the center of the top of the sleeve.

Finishing: Sew shoulder seams. Work Collar. Match the centers of the sleeve tops to the shoulder seams and sew sleeve to armhole. Sew the side and sleeve seams. Work in ends.

Collar: Using size 8 circular needles, beginning at left shoulder seam pick up and knit 32 (32, 33, 33, 36) sts along left front neck edge; 4 (4, 4, 6, 6) sts at front neck, 32 (32, 33, 33, 36) sts along right front neck edge to shoulder seam; 4 sts along right back neck, 14 (14, 16, 16, 16) sts at back neck; and 4 st along left back neck edge to shoulder. —90 (90, 96, 96, 102) sts.
Work in 2 x 4 ribbing as follows: *K2, P4 rep from * for 14 rounds.
Change to size 9 circular needles and work 18 rnds more. Bind off all sts loosely.

This is a new color for Merino Stripes
"Mardigras" which will arrive in mid-July.
