Sizes: Directions are for Small 6-8. Changes for Medium
(10-12) and Large (14-16) are in parentheses.

Crystal Palace Bamboo or
Daisy Needles:
Knitting needles size 5 and 7, 1 cable holder
Gauge: 5 sts equals 1" in st st with larger needles.
Open Cable Pattern (12 row repeat):
Row 1 - k
Row 2 - p
Row 3 - k1, *hold 3 sts on cable holder in front of work, k next 3 sts,
k3
sts from holder, k6* to end of row, end with k1;
Row 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 - p
Row 5, 7, 9, 11 - k
Row 9 - k7, *put 3 sts on cable holder, hold in back of work, k3 next
sts, k3 sts from holder, k6*, work to end of row, end k1
Repeat these 12 rows.
BACK: With smaller needles cast on 86 (98-110) sts.
Work in ribbing k1, p1 for 19 rows. Still with smaller needles, in row 20, add
24 (26-26) sts evenly across row. Change to larger needles.
Next Row: (Row 2 cable pattern) p.
Next Row: work according to row 3 of pattern and continue in pattern
until work measures 19(20-20) inches from beginning of waistband, or length
desired. Change to smaller needles, work in ribbing pattern for 8(10-12) rows.
Bind off center 60(66-72) sts. Continue each side in ribbing pattern for another
8(10-12) rows. Bind off.
FRONT: Work front to correspond with back until it
measures 17(18-18)" above waistband. Put center 16(16-18) sts on holder, and
work both sides separately, making shortened rows to allow front to lie flat;
in next row p to within 6 sts from holder, sl 6 sts onto holder. Turn, k to
end.
Next row: p to within 6 sts from holder, put 6 sts on holder, turn. Work
cable in k row.
Next row: p to within 6 sts of holder, sl 6 sts onto holder. Work other
side to correspond. Continue each side in ribbing pattern for another 8 (10-12)
rows. Bind off all sts, including sts on holder.
SLEEVES: With smaller needles cast on 48(50-52) sts,
work in k1 p1 ribbing for 19 rows.
Row 20: with smaller needles, add 26 sts evenly across row. Change to
larger needles, work row 2 of pattern and continue in pattern. Add 1 st each
side every 6 rows until 102(104-106) sts are on needle.
Continue until sleeve measures 14(14.5-15)" or desired length from cuff.
Make 2 sleeves. (Tip: Knit both sleeves at the same time to
have a perfect matching pair.)
FINISHING: Sew sleeve seams. Sew side seams to 7.5(8-8,5)" from shoulder.
Sew in sleeves. Overlap shoulder sections, tack from inside.
