Begin
Leg of Sock:
CO 64 sts using long tail cast on. Arrange sts evenly with 16 sts on each of
four (4) needles. Place marker (pm) and join for knitting in round, being
careful not to twist sts. Knit in Twisted Rib of K2tbl, P2 for 1.5 inches.
Work
four (4) complete repeats of Eyelet Stitch pattern. After completing Row 11
of 5th repeat, begin heel flap.
Begin
Heel:
NOTE:
Heel is
worked in rows over 32 sts.
Row 1
K
across needles #1 and #2, K all sts onto one (1) needle; turn
Row 2
Sl1, P
across; turn
Row 3
Sl1,
K2, yo, SSK, K to last 5 sts, K2tog, YO k3; turn
Repeat rows 2 and 3 sixteen (16) times; turn
Using a
French Heel; turn Heel as follows:
Row 1:
Sl 1, P17 sts, P2tog, P1 turn
Row 2:
Sl 1, K5 sts, SSK, K1, turn
Row 3:
Sl 1, P6, P2tog, P1, turn
Row 4:
Sl 1, K7, SSK, K1, turn
Repeat rows 3 and 4, increasing 1 additional K or P stitch after the Sl 1
until all side sts have been worked leaving 18 sts; ending with a K row.
Gussets:
Using spare needle, pick up and knit 16 sts from side of heel flap (Needle 1). K
in eyelet pattern across needles #2 and #3. With needle #4, pick up and K 16 sts
from side of heel flap; also K half the remaining heel sts (9sts) onto needle
#4. Transfer the remaining 9 heel sts onto Needle #1. Beginning of Round is
center back of heel.
Stitch count is (25, 16, 16, 25) respectively.
Gusset
Decreases and Sock Foot:
Rnd 1:
Needle 1:
K until last 3 sts, k2tog, K1.
Needle 2
and 3:
Work in pattern around.
Needle 4:
K1, SSK, K around.
Rnd 2:
Work in pattern around.
Repeat these 2 rounds until total sts equal 64. You have returned to original
stitch count and placement of 16 sts on each of 4 needles.
Sock Foot:
Continue knitting in stockinette on needles 1 and 4 and in pattern on needle 2
and 3 until approximately 1-1/2 to 2 inches from top of your longest toe. (If
you do not wish to continue eyelet pattern on top of foot; it may be
discontinued at any time).
Shape Toe:
Rnd 1:
Needle 1:
K until last 3 sts, K2tog, K1
Needle 2:
K1, SSK, K around.
Needle 3:
K until the last 3 sts, K2tog, K1
Needle 4:
K1, SSK, K around.
Rnd 2:
K around
Continue in this manner until approximately 24 - 36 sts remaining depending upon
desired toe shape. Using Kitchener method, graft remaining stitches to close
toe.
* Placing a
Bead
Having the
8th stitch as the next stitch to be knitted, place crochet hook thru center of
bead. Run crochet hook, with bead on it, thru the 8th stitch, removing knit
stitch from knitting needle. Now, with crochet hook catching yarn, pull stitch
thru bead. Place stitch, with bead on it, back onto needle and K as usual.
## We have had questions about Row 6 - here is
explanation from designer.
The pattern IS correct, knitting it will show it is correct:
There should be 16 sts on each needle - not 18. I am knitting it now and it
comes out correct.
On Row 6 - the K1 is necessary to move the eyelet hole into the correct
position.
There are 2 pattern repeats on each needle. Due to the K1 at the beginning of
each needle; the second repeat on each needle ends with the 2 remaining sts
(instead of 3).
K1*- 1st
First repeat on each needle - K2tog - 1st Yo - 1st K1 - 1st Yo - 1st Ssk - 1st
K3 - 3 sts = 8sts total
The second repeat of 8 sts ends with a K2 to to account for the K1 at the
beginning of each needle.
If the pattern is changed in any way; it won't look the same.
To put it
simply - the second or last repeat on each needle only has 7 sts since it ends
with a k2 instead of K3.
So it would be:
K1
8 pattern sts
7 pattern sts
= 16 pattern sts on each needle
This is what happens when a knitter tries to read a pattern
to determine if it is correct instead of actually knitting it.
