Women’s - Medium (size 7-9), knit top down
Difficulty Level – Medium

Materials
50 gr balls Maizy (82% corn fiber - 18% elastic nylon)  – Meadow Mist
2 - #2 Crystal Palace Bamboo Circular (Needle #1 is Sole, Needle #2 is Instep) -or- size needed to achieve gauge.
Gauge: 8 sts & 10 rounds/inch

K = knit; P = purl; K2TOG = knit 2 sts together;  DP = Double Pointed Needles; Sl = Slip st knitwise; SSK = slip first st knitwise, slip 2nd st purlwise, knit 2 sts together into back loop; P2TOG = purl 2 sts together; PU = pick up; T = turn work; BOR = beginning of round; DC = decrease ( K1, K2Tog … SSK, K1); Rep = repeat; st(s) = stitch(es)

BEFORE starting, PLEASE read all instructions carefully

Cuff: K 2, P1 around for 12 rounds
Knit 1 round
Rnd 1: *Yo, ssk, k9; rep from * around
Rnd 2: K
Rnd 3: *K1, yo, ssk, k8; rep from * around
Rnd 4: K
Rnd 5: *K2, yo, ssk, k4, k2tog, yo, k1; rep from * around
Rnd 6: K
Rnd 7: *K3, yo, ssk, k2, k2tog, yo, k2; rep from * around.
Rnd 8: K
Rnd 9: *K6, k2tog, yo, k3; rep from * around
Rnd 10: K
Rnd 11: *K5, k2tog, yo, k4; rep from * around
Rnd 12: K

Knit Rnds 1 – 12 3 more times (48 rnds)
Repeat Rnds 1 – 11
Rnd 12: K1, K2tog, K63


IF you are not going to continue the pattern stitch down the instep, knit 2 rounds before starting the heel

HEEL over 32 sts
Row 1: K3 * Sl1, K1* K3
Row 2: K3 * PURL* K3
Row 3: K3 * K1, Sl1* K3
Row 4: K3 * PURL* K3
Repeat Row 1 – 4 for a total of 16 garter ridges
Repeat Row 1 - 3
End the heel flap ready to start a wrong side row

Rounder Heel Turn
Sl1, P18, P2Tog, P1 TURN
Sl 1, K7, SSK, K1 TURN
Sl 1, P8, P2tog, P1, TURN
Sl 1, K9, SSK, K1, TURN
Sl 1, P10, P2tog, P1, TURN
Cont working one more st each row until all stitches have been used worked. (20 sts)
With yarn at of Left side of Heel:

Gusset Pick Up
PU 1 Gusset St at ea Garter Ridge
K across instep sts ( if continuing pattern down instep, you will work Rnd 1: *YO, ssk, k9; rep from * )
PU 1 Gusset Stat ea Garter Ridge
K across 20 Heel sts
K across first Gusset PU
Now at the instep sts (BOR)

Gusset Decrease
Starting at instep, K across, (Rnd 2: K)
K1, K2Tog, K across to 3 st before end of needle, SSK, K1
K around
Rep these 2 rnds until 33 sts on Sole Needle & 33 sts on Instep Needle
If continuing pattern down instep – K instep sts when decreasing Gusset Sts. Work Pattern Round on instep when you K the Gusset Sts.

K until 2 1/2” shorter than foot length
