Cast on 40 (45, 50, 55) sts, With right side of square #1 facing, PU and k 1 st in each cast-on stitch (39, 44, 49, 54 sts), picking up only the top strand of the cast-on. This will make a "seamless" joining - 79 (89. 99, 109) stitches. Purl one row.

Complete square 2 same as for square 1. Repeat for square 3.

Square 4
With right side facing, PU 70 (80, 99, 109) sts along cast-on edges of squares 1 and 3. Complete as for square 1.

Front Yoke
With right side facing, PU and knit 85 (93, 101, 109) sts along top edge, picking up only one side of edge st.
row 1 (WS) P5, *K3, P5*.

Neck shaping
row 1 Work in pattern across 30 (34, 37, 41)) sts, place next 25 (25, 27, 27) sts on holder for center neck, K30 (34, 37, 41).
row 2 Work in patt to st holder, attach 2nd ball of yarn and work across second shoulder. Both shoulders will be worked at the same time.
row 3 Work in patt to 3 sts before neck opening, K2 tog, K1 - K1, ssk, work in patt to end.
row 4 Work in patt to 2 sts before neck opening, P2 - P2, work in patt to end of row.
Repeat rows 3 and 4, four times more. Work 2 rows even. Place sts on dp needles, using them as st holders.

Back Yoke
With RS facing, PU and knit 85 (93, 101, 109) sts along top edge, picking up only one side of edge st.
1 (WS) P5, *K3, P5*.
2 K5, *P3, K5*.
3 P5, *K3, P5.*
Work in patt to 1" shorter than front yoke at arm edge.

Neck Shaping
row 1 Work in patt across 27 (31, 35, 37) sts, place next 31 (31, 31, 35) sts on holder for center neck, K27 (31, 35, 37).
row 2 Work in patt to st holder, attach 2nd ball of yarn and work across second shoulder. Both shoulders will be worked at the same time.
row 3 Work in patt to 3 sts before neck opening, K2 tog, K1 - K1, ssk, work in patt to end.
row 4 Work in patt to 2 sts before neck opening, P2 - P2, work in patt to end of row.

Repeat rows 3 and 4 once more. Work 2 rows even. Place rem st on dp needles, using them as stitch holders.

Place front and back tog, right sides facing, and work 3-needle bind off. (Insert a third dp needle into front of each st on dp needle and K them together. K the next 2 sts on ea needle together, Bind off. Continue in this manner across shoulder.

Neck Ribbing
Using size 5 - 16" circular needle and beg at center back stitch holder, work across sts on holder in rib pattern as established, PU and knit 20 sts along back and front of side neck edge, work in patt across sts on front neck holder, PU and knit 20 sts along side of second neck edge. Join and work in rib patt for 1-1/4". Fasten off.

Sleeves
Measure down 9.5 (10, 10.5 11) inches from shoulder seam and place markers. Using size 8, PU and k 93 (101, 109, 117) sts between markers.

row 1 P5, *K3, P5*. (WS)
row 2 K5, *P3, K5.*
row 3 K1, ssk, work in rib patt to last 3 sts, K2 tog, K1
row 4 P2, work in established rib to last 2 sts, P2.
row 5-6 K the K sts, P the P sts as they face you.
Repeat the last 4 rows 19 (17, 14, 16)) times more, then continue decreasing every alternate row until
37 (39, 40, 41) sts remain. Work even until sleeve measures 18 (18.5, 19, 19,5) inches or to desired length. BO loosely in rib pattern.
Sew side seams and sleeve seams.

Bottom Rib
Using size 5 - 35" circular needle, PU and knit 165 (181, 197, 218) sts around bottom of sweater. Work in K5, P3 rib for 1" or to desired length of sweater. BO loosely using tip of size 8 needle.
