TAOS Open Front Pullover  

Size  S (M, L, XL, 1X)
Finished Chest Measurement = 38 ½ (41½, 44¾, 48, 51¼)"

Materials:
9 (10, 11, 12, 13) - 50 gr balls Crystal Palace Taos
Crystal Palace Bamboo or DAISY Needles US SP size 7 (4.5 mm) & size 5 (3.75mm) and 8 (5mm) 16" circular needles.
Crochet Hook Size G (4mm)
2 stitch markers

Abbreviations:
BO-bind off; beg - begin (ning), CO-cast on; Dec-decrease; k-knit; meas-measures; patt-pattern; PU- pick up; p-purl; rem- remaining; rep-repeat; RS-right side; St(s)-stitch (es); St st-Stockinette stitch; WS- wrong side

Gauge: 20 sts= 4" in Stockinette using size 7 (4.5mm) needle
For correct sizing, be sure to do a gauge swatch.

Back
Using size 5 needles CO 114 (122, 130, 138, 146) sts. Work in 2 X 2 Rib as follows:
Row 1: K2 *p2, k2; rep from *
Row 2: P2 *k2, p2; rep from *
Rep these 2 rows for 3 ½’’, end after working row 2, decreasing 18 sts evenly on last row. [96 (104, 112, 120, 128)] sts.
Change to size 7 needles and work in St st until piece measures 13 ½ (14, 14, 14 ½, 14 ½) " from beg or desired length to underarm.
Shape Armhole

Dec 1 st at each end at the beg of next row. Dec 1 st at each end every other row 10 (11, 12, 13, 14) times. [74 (80, 86, 92, 98)] sts
Work even until armhole measures 8 ½ (9, 9, 9 ½, 9 ½)".  
Shape Neck and Shoulders

Working both sides at the same time, work across 18 (20, 22, 24, 26) sts. BO center 38 (40, 42, 44, 46) sts, join 2nd ball, work rem sts.
BO 2 sts at each neck edge 1 time. [16 (18, 20, 22, 24)] sts. Work 2 rows even. BO shoulder sts.
Left Front
Using size 5 needles CO 66 (70, 74, 78, 82) sts. Place marker after working 62 (64, 70, 74, 78 sts) Work in rib same as for the back, decreasing 9 (10, 11, 12, 13) sts evenly, do not decrease in the 4 sts that have been marked. Remove marker. [57 (60, 63, 66, 69)] sts.
Change to size 7 needles and work in ST st until piece measures same as for the back to armhole, end after working WS row.
Shape Armhole
Dec 1 st at beg of next row, then every other row 10 (11, 12, 13, 14) times. [46 (48, 50, 52, 54)] sts. Work even in St st until armhole measures 5 ½ (6, 6, 6, 6 ½)", end after working a RS row.
Shape Neck
BO 22 sts at beg of next row. Dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 8 times. [16 (18, 20, 22, 24)] sts rem for shoulder. Work even until armhole measures same as for back. BO shoulder sts.
Right Front
(Note: The right front has 4 sts more than the left front).
Using size 5 needles CO 70 (74, 78, 82, 86) sts. Place marker after working 4 sts. Work in rib same as for the back. Decreasing 9 (10, 11, 12, 13) sts evenly do not make decrease in the 4 sts that have been marked. Remove marker. [61 (64, 67, 70, 73)] sts.
Change to size 7 needles. Work in ST st until piece measures same as for the left front to armhole shaping end after working RS row.
Shape Armhole
Dec 1 st at beg of next row, then every other row 10 (11, 12, 13, 14) times. [50 (52, 54, 56, 58)] sts. Work even until armhole measures 5 ½ (6, 6, 6 ½, 6 ½)", end after working a WS row.
Shape Neck

BO 26 sts at beg of next row. Dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 8 times. Work even until armhole measures same as for back. [16 (18, 20, 22, 24)] sts rem for shoulder. BO shoulder sts.

Sleeves (Make 2)
Using size 5 needles, CO 74 (74, 78, 78, 82) sts. Work in Rib same as for the back for (3 ½)". Dec 10 (10, 12, 12, 14) sts evenly on last row. (64, 64, 66, 66, 68) sts.
Change to size 7 needles and work in St st until piece measures 7" from CO edge. Inc 1 st at each end of next row, then every 6 rows 9 (10, 10, 11, 11) times. [84 (86, 88, 90, 92)] sts. Work even until sleeve measures 17 (17 ½, 18, 18, 18 ½)" or desired length to underarm.
Shape Sleeve Cap
BO 3 sts at beg next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end every other row 12 (12, 13, 13, 13) times. [54 (56, 56, 58, 60)] sts. Work 1 row even, then BO all rem sts.

Finishing
Sew shoulder seams. Cross Right Front over Left front. Sew through both layers. Work collar.

Collar
Using size 5 circular needles, beginning at left shoulder seam, PU 20 (20, 20, 22, 22) sts along left front neck edge, 22 center neck sts, 24 (24, 24, 26, 26) sts along right front neck edge, (50, 50, 54, 54, 58) sts back neck edge. [116 (116, 120, 124, 128)] sts. Join into round. Work in K2, P2 Rib for 1". Change to size 8 needles, continuing to work in rib st, work until collar meas (5 ½) from PU round. BO loosely in rib.
Sew in sleeve caps. Sew side and sleeves seams. Work crochet trim. Work in all ends. Lightly block if necessary.

Crochet Trim
RS facing, using crochet hook, join with slip st at bottom edge of right front. Work 1 row of single crochet to neck, taking care that edge remains flat. Fasten off. Repeat for left front, joining with slipstitch at neck edge and working to the bottom edge. Fasten off.
