A MAJOR BATTLE WON

Dispute of the last two weeks between the FSM and the Administration

concerning interpretation and implementation of the PACT of

OCT0BER 2 was settled early last night. With FSM threatening to call

mass demonstrations for today, a high level labor mediator came

in [to] help resolve the dispute. The final settlement has recognized

the legitimacy of the FSM and has included FSM's procedural demands. A

battle was won, but we still do not have Free Speech and Free Political

activity on the campus. The FSM must continue to organize and build

its strength in order to press this fight.
